Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş announced that the monthly payments of social assistance programs had been increased by almost 50%


Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş announced that pensions for older persons and persons with disabilities, home care allowance and social and economic support payments within the scope of social service models had been increased by nearly 50 %.

Göktaş stated in her statement that after the new regulation in the the salary of public personnel coefficient in January, there had been an adjustment in payment amounts within the scope of social service models.

Stating that the Ministry aimed to improve the capacity and services of social services and aids targeting the whole society in the " Century of Türkiye", Minister Göktaş said that the Ministry would continue to develop new service models and areas, and find solutions to new challenges and risks emerging.

Stating that low-income individuals and families were supported in line with their needs with the social service models implemented, Göktaş said, "With the increases in social assistance payments, the Ministry is increasing the pension for older persons from 2.348 TL to 3.504 TL. In addition, the Ministry is increasing the salaries of citizens with a disability rate between 40-69 % from 1874 TL to 2.797 TL, and the salaries of citizens with a disability report of 70% and above from 2.811 TL to 4.196 TL."

Minister Göktaş stated that the pensions for disability paid to citizens having relatives with disabilities under the age of 18 had also increased from 1.874 TL to 2.797 TL.

116.2 Billion TL of "Home Care Allowance” last year

Emphasizing the importance of protecting and strengthening the family integrety of persons with disabilities by living with their families and relatives without leaving their social environment, Göktaş reminded that the Ministry launched the Home Care Allowance.

Stating that the Ministry made a total of 116.2 billion TL of "Home Care Allowances" last year, Minister Göktaş said, "The Ministry provides Home Care Allowances to 560.000 persons with disabilities on a monthly average. For the January-July period of this year, the Ministry has increased the Home Care Allowance from 5.097 TL to 7.608 TL."

Emphasizing that the principle of supporting children primarily with their families was their main principle, Göktaş stated that the Ministry provided Social and Economic Support (SED) services to families in need for their children.

Emphasizing that the amount of economic support for SED were also adjusted, Göktaş said, "The Ministry has increased the amount of economic support per child in the SED service from an average of 3.571 TL to 5.330 TL. The Ministry is also increasing foster family payments per child from 5.705 TL to 8.895 TL."

 “There is no distinction”

Expressing that the Ministry would continue to implement holistic and fair social service models aimed at protecting, strengthening and developing the individual, family and social values, Göktaş said:

"We reach all segments of society with supply-oriented and accessible service network with the principle of equal and fair service without any discrimination among the citizens. We support persons with disadvantages through a variety of services and social assistance models. Following the new regulation, the Ministry will deposit the monthly payments of social assistance programs into the accounts of beneficiaries in an incremental manner starting from February."
