In her speech at the opening ceremony of the Altındağ Barrier-Free Day Care Living Center, Minister Göktaş stated that the Ministry had a range of services that covered all.

Stating that the focus of the work had always been on the family, that the Ministry produced social policies with the vision of protecting and strengthening the family structure and that the Ministry transformed these policies into services, Göktaş said that services for family members with special needs were of particular importance.

Göktaş said, "Services for persons with disabilities and their families are among the important steps taken by us during the 22 years of the AK Parti governments, which is a source of pride for us. We have taken historic steps in disability under the leadership of Mr. President. Indeed, it has been a breakthrough in terms of developing social policies. Since 2002, we have succeeded in the firsts of the Republic of Türkiye in terms of solving the problems of citizens with disabilities."

Stating that the first Disability Law of the Republic of Türkiye was enacted in 2005, and that Türkiye was among the first countries to sign the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Göktaş emphasized that the 2030 Barrier-Free Vision Document, which was announced by the President of the Republic of Türkiye H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in 2021, served as the basic roadmap determining the policies.

"We have started to implement the National Action Plan on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities"

Stating that the Ministry started to implement the National Action Plan on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities with the Presidential Circular this year, Göktaş continued her words as follows:

"There is no value in a policy that is not reflected on the field. Therefore, we have successfully implemented the policies developed. We have planned the day care, rehabilitation and family counseling centers for persons with disabilities to have at least 1 center in each province across the country. This number will increase in every district with AK Parti municipalities and mayors. This is because we know that AK Parti is the only one to do it. We are currently providing services to citizen with disabilities in 137 day care and rehabilitation centers. The Ministry provides residential care services to 7.053 persons with disabilities in 106 rehabilitation and care centers affiliated to the Ministry and 29.000 persons with disabilities in 312 private care centers. As of January 2024, 143 persons with disabilities are in 143 hope homes and 594 persons with disabilities are benefiting from the service at home."

Stating that the Ministry worked closely with municipalities in terms of the fields of work, Göktaş said that municipalities were the most important stakeholders in terms of social policies and social services.

Stating that the nursing home was realized with the protocol between the Ministry and Altındağ Municipality, Göktaş said that the nursing home would provide great convenience to the families of the persons with disabilities:

"President of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is still the legendary mayor who made Istanbul what it is in the eyes of many of us. We have never forgotten and will never forget the journey Mr. President embarked on by saying 'My love is Istanbul'. All the mayors took the President's role as a mayor in love with his city, as an example for themselves. The cities and districts they presided over were served with great love. Another fact that all of us know is that service politics in AK Parti is a relay race. After working hard for 5 years for Altındağ, President Asım is handing over the flag to President Veysel. President Asım is going on the road again to serve Mamak with the same excitement. God willing, we will support President Asım on his journey, and we will visit the barrier-free living center there as well."

Stating that the presence and support of the metropolitan municipality was important in the service performance of district municipalities in metropolitan cities, Göktaş said that Ankara had suffered a great loss in this regard for 5 years, and that the lack of coordination between the metropolitan municipality and district municipalities had resulted in disrupted services and unfulfilled promises.

Göktaş stated that Turgut Altınok, the People's Alliance's candidate for Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB), had projects that would quickly create a change from transportation to social life.

Following the speeches, Minister Göktaş cut the opening ribbon of the center together with AK Parti Ankara Deputy Lütfiye Selva Çam, AK Parti Ankara Provincial Chairman Hakan Han Özcan, Turgut Altınok, the People's Alliance's candidate for Mayor of ABB, and Altındağ Mayor and Mamak Mayoral candidate Asım Balcı, then released balloons into the sky with the children.
